Joe Wheeler State Park Lakeside Cottages

Fantastic little cottages. Perfect for families wanting some peace and quiet or fishing. You share a boat dock with your neighbor. There is linen service available, and trash is right outside in the raccoon proof container. There are dishes, silverware, cookware, towels, ironing board and iron, 2 tv's and DVD players, as well as wifi, and a coffee pot. The bathroom is huge and has everything you need. A huge 2nd bedroom in this one we stayed in with a spiral staircase and fantastic views. It stormed most of our trip, but we were able to sight see and go look at the dam. Could not have asked for more. Wished some of the trees had not blocked the view, but that would be great shade this summer in the heat. You get a great view of the dam at night. Rented a cabin for a week. Very quite and peaceful. Beautiful views. The cabin was very roomy and comfortable.

The cottage was very nice! The only problem was not really a safe way to get down to pier,no steps just slippery unstable rocky path downhill 😕

It was a perfect weekend, a nice cool 80 degrees. Lash's seafood restaurant at the lodge Was excellent!! Great food and service.our favorite spot in North Alabama.

The cottages are super nice and spacious. They are long the lake also and have a shared pier with the neighboring cabin. Ample parking. The state park is really nice as well it wildlife is everywhere from white tail deer, squirrels, and raccoons. Be careful when on the road the deer will be on it. Also be careful because the park rangers do monitor the road into the state park. The boat ramps are also really nice. Plenty of space and the ramp is in good shape and just about the right angle for launching. Had a great experience staying here!
