I’ve been to a few campgrounds and cabins around New Jersey and this is by far my favorite . Situated in a very scenic town that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a different world compared to where I’m from in central NJ. The campground cabins sections are small but spaced out well to provide a bit of privacy. Your neighbor is visible, but never feels like you’re on top of them as the cabins are surrounded by trees on all sides, this was very well thought out. Bathrooms are not too far away and only one shower and toilet stall per gender . They can use some updating, but certainly not dilapidated. Cabins 1&2 are closest to the bathroom. I stayed in cabin 5 in the pictures. I like that there’s numerous trails close by which I didn’t try as I didn’t feel comfortable going alone ,
Great camping whether you rv, tent camp or want a lean-to (think "cabin" without plumbing or electric) we always have a wonderful time. We camp all year round, just finishing up our February camping now.
This campground is very clean and heavily wooded. The staff is pleasant and helpful. They sell firewood and at time of this post, $7 a bundle. The sites are close together, but there's some trees in between to give some privacy. The bathrooms are pit toilets, but in a clean and nice bathhouse. They do have showers that are push button with warm water. Poison Ivy is everywhere so be very attentive of where you step and how you put up your tent/tarps. They have small hikes within the campground that were decent and one had great scenic views. They allow dogs on some sites and some sites are also walk in so be mindful of which you chose if you don't want to walk everything in to the site.
We had the best time here! It’s the perfect place for a peaceful day enjoying quiet and nature. The scenery was beautiful. We hiked the Summit Trail and enjoyed it very much. I would recommend that trail for ages nine and up. We stayed in Shelter 4. It was very basic, with no electricity, but it was nice, clean, and simple. Outside, there is a picnic table and an area for a fire. We are definitely planning to come back. I imagine it will be gorgeous in the fall on a cool, crisp day. It is the perfect little getaway from all the noise.
Terrible Experience - Discriminatory Behavior If you’re Asian, be extremely cautious when visiting this place, especially if the tall, long-haired older male staff member is still working there. His blatantly racist behavior was shocking and humiliating. During a previous visit, this man proudly mentioned calling the police on an Asian person. During our most recent visit, he yelled at us, “Get out! Leave now!” while locking the door and refusing to assist us. He shouted so loudly that it could be heard from outside, closed the curtains, and left us standing in the cold. We had recently moved, so my husband’s driver’s license showed our old address, and he gave the new address. The staff member didn’t give him a chance to explain, turned red in the face, and immediately started yelling a
