JCC Chicago - Camp Chi (Summer)

I went to camp chi when I was a kid and I loved it. It was an amazing experience for me and it gave my parents a break. When I went Bernie was in charge. We loved him and all the counselors. All of them. They kept us busy. The lake was beautiful. I'm now 74 and I think about camp chi and always smile about it. It was a fabulous experience

Great facility. Nice accommodation, beautiful spot and very helpful staff. Good for groups, Kosher or not.

If I was able to give this a zero I would. The way international staff are treated is appalling. The discrimination, lies and treatment towards staff is disgusting to be honest. They tend to make false allegations up to protect themselves from people seeing the true treatment. Many staff quit this previous summer some even thinking lawsuits due to the horrible treatment at camp chi. If you want a summer where you are treated as equals this isn't the camp for you. They favourites the Americans and make international feel like trash. If you enjoy being disregarded, having words twisted and being treated like less then the rubbish in the bin this is the camp for you. Please do your research into camp. Went for a family camp weekend. Tons of activities for the kids and parents. Swimming, zip lining, boats, camp fires, arts and crafts. The only thing that was lacking was the rooms they gave us were absolutely disgusting, insanely dirty, bathroom door was broken and wouldn't shut all the way and if you did get it shut it was then stuck shut. Closet door was off the hinges and just laying diagonal in the closet. The floors were filthy. I've attached photos of the room. If it wasn't for how awful the room was this would have been an easy 5 stars..

This place claimed the child I was retrieving after a 1 month deposit was still the same humanoid, however it did not seem the case. The bratty little child I left here was complacent, annoying, grumpy, and clean. The one I picked up was happy, cheery, energetic, dirty (EVERYWHERE), and very, very chatty. Somehow a mutation must have occurred because this child was so energized about all the hiking, sports, swimming, games, friends, arts and crafts, eating, sleeping, bugs, wildlife, bug hunting, adventures, camping, whatnot that they did, it was strange to have them back and be excited to go back. The only caveat is to find the town's closest laundromat
