Innkeeper Motel

I stayed here for about a month and a half while trying to find a new place to live in Illinois. It felt like divine intervention that I found this place! Considerably cheaper than most, probably because it's across from a truck stop, but I didn't find it noisy or anything - it was pretty convenient whenever I needed gas or snacks. The motel seemed to have plenty of guests during my stay, but the walls are thick enough that TV and other noise doesn't really travel too much. The couple who owns the motel are kind and genuine hard-working people and they somehow manage to run the entire place as a family without other staff. Positive: Location was near the state sporting clay tournament and the price was low. The beds were not bad honestly. I did not have high expectations. Just needed a place to sleep. It was that. Negative: Had a smell of that strange cleaner, often found in hotels owned by foreigners. Also smelled like the room had been smoked in. We had selected nonsmoking. The room was very outdated looking.

If it was possible, I would rate the customer service as a -5 stars. My husband and I were looking for something affordable close to my work and this was the option we found on booking.com My husband went ahead, used his credit card and reserved a room for four days. Online it says they accept pets and we have a cat we would be bringing with us so my husband called to confirm that this was OK. The woman working the service counter told him she did not have any rooms that allowed pets open at this time. My husband was aware of this information and we were going to find other resources to house our cat for the next four days. We drove 40 minutes from my husband’s work to the motel in Hamel only to be talked to like we were complete morons And belittled as she told us she canceled our reserva

Very bad shape motel, although it was cheap. I didn't see any bugs so that was a plus but it was not a nice place. It was noisy and had an odd smell. The staff were very friendly yet the guests were quite noisy, as was the truck stop across the road. Could not recommend.

Stayed April 14th,2018 for one night. We chose this hotel because it was right in the same town as the party for my uncle's 80th birthday. It was an older property, but we had absolutely no problems whatsoever. The proprietor was friendly and professional, the rooms (we had two for our party of four) were a little careworn, but clean smelled fine and tastefully furnished. Cable TV was great, towels were plentiful, dry, clean and bleached. The shower was sufficient, although I would have liked safety grab bars in the shower. Beds were clean and comfy. I loved the big bedspread that you could pull up under your chin. Heater worked fine although most of the control labels had worn off. The only complaint/recommendation I would have would be having a small coffee maker in the rooms. Some folks
