Inn at Playa del Rey

The views the room of the wetlands are a bird watchers dream 5/5. The breakfast is wonderful and they served some of the best granola, key lime pie, and fresh orange juice. However, most all of the staff incredibly brash. They did let us leave our bags early and the room was ready about an hour early (they text us to let us know so). There is a giant puddle right in front of the main entrance to the parking area. The hotel is located right along a busier road and good luck getting in during rush hour if you are heading west, as traffic will back up as far as you can see. While this is an old building, there were still some maintenance items that could use some attention: caulking in bathroom, window paint, and the lock/hinges of the door to the balcony. The reviews are true! This is a gem of an "Inn" in the city of LA only 10-15 mins away from LAX. Better yet, there is almost never any traffic on route to LAX to or from this hotel. Nestled at the edge of the Ballona Wetlands marsh, this inn is an oasis in the jungle of LA. It has the atmosphere of a family run hotel--all the employees are personable and welcoming. I stayed in the Queen room partial view and was treated to a 3rd floor room overlooking the wetlands with a full balcony! Room was very large and bathroom boasts double sinks separate from toilet/shower area. Best of all, room was very quiet--no street or airplane noise! I can’t wait to come back! Such a cute place to relax for a few days. The service was so friendly and welcoming. We had a great view of the wetlands from our balcony. Loved breakfast with the made to order eggs. Wine and cheese hour was so nice too. Within walking distance of the beach and trails. Overall just fantastic.

I wrote a particularly nasty review about this place, but I was upset so I'm revising it to be more useful, less crabby. This is a lovely hotel that faces a serene and beautiful urban nature reserve on one side. Its close to the beach and has a very nice wine n cheese reception every day. It's clean and the bed are very comfortable. The other side faces a VERY busy road, and my room faced the busy road side. I got zero sleep staying in that room. I should have realized, but I didn't. DONT BE ME, REFUSE rooms on the street side unless you want to witness being in the middle of busy, loud traffic all night long. And they can't lock up luggage ("our insurance doesn't cover that.”), they expect you to leave it in their busy lobby next to two exits. Nope and nope. The staff is beyond friendly a
