While TDY to Oahu, I was lodged in the IHG at Tripler AMC. Off the bat, I ran into an issue finding the place. Try the address or the name of the hotel in your GPS, and it will guide you to the Emergency Room entrance on Tripler. After circling the installation twice (IYKNK) I called the front desk. The gentleman told me where to turn to get to the hotel. (Hint: at the ER, veer right up the hill, can’t miss it.) When I got to my room, I had a glance and thought, “Yup. Army lodging.” My Initial impression is this building is old, no I mean OLD. Everything about it screams take-it-or-leave-it. However, it was clean. As I got to looking around, I realized this may not be what I thought. It seems like this building used to be old barracks. Probably BOQ (Batchelor Officer Quarters.).
My husband and I came to O’ahu to spend 2 weeks with family stationed here. With the average hotel around $280 a night, staying on base (husband retired army) was a no brained. What you give up in luxury (and you did give up luxury) you make up in space. Two rooms, one a bedroom with 2 double beds, one a family room with sofa, desk and small table, joined by a bathroom. Free breakfast daily, simple but saved us $30 daily. Limited choices included either scrambled or folded omelette eggs and a breakfast meet, oatmeal, dry cereal, bagels and some muffins. Coffee and juices were available as well. The rooms feel dark and are a little musty but again we paid 1/2 what we would elsewhere and stayed 2 weeks. No complaints. Comfortable bed and clean towels. |Barracks styling meets hotel. 🫡
The rooms are nice here. Everything is pretty renovated There are no elevators, which is a downfall for older disabled veterans. The breakfast was pretty underwhelming. Doesn’t have the usual IHG specials.
The address is wrong on maps. Fix that and location is 5/5. Enjoying breakfast and seeing that view is fantastic. Rooms are as good as they can be with a building that is older. The staff are amazing!! I would recommend this place for the staff alone.
Great customer service particularly from Aloha, Christina and GM Honour Stone. Good breakfast included and just a cool place to hang out. Great location especially if you have a hospital or VA medical center appointment. Beautiful views. And it's safe because it's on military property and you have to show military ID at the guard shack to get on post.
