Idaho Hotel

Late review but still had to tell the secret. This establishment has the best pie I have ever eaten in my life. And I am over 50 years old and grew up on good old fashioned farm pies. If you want to take a scenic drive to Silver City to just get pie, this is worth it.

We did not stay here but we went inside to look at the items they had in the entry way of the hotel. It's free to look at and don't forget to sign the guest book! There is a cute little restaurant here, the only food in town. You will only spend about 5 minutes looking around, but worth stopping in for. ||||The history of this building is amazing. ||||The drive to the hotel is a dirt road that is sometimes on the sides of mountains. Watch for live stock, we saw quite a few. Also for ATV's! We had a full size truck and the last 1/2 mile to town was the worst part. When we were leaving town, there was a mini bus, who does not have high clearance, coming into Silver City. So it can be done, just go slow. The road seemed to be 2 cars wide most of the time. We had the best experience at the Silver City hotel. Expect going back in time with few commodities but yet enough to be comfortable. What made the experience unforgettable is the people who own the place, the staff and the amazing dinner we had. The strawberrie rhubarb pie is worth the drive on that whining dirt road to get to Silver City.

Husband is a 3rd generation Idahoan who has hunted the Owyhee's for decades. Many memories of the area. He is 78 yo so we now just visit Silver City yearly for nostalgia. Went up with daughter yesterday, saw the hotel was open, went in to check out (previous visits always closed) spent a minute checking dining/ bar, lobby. We stepped into an area with staircase to hotel rooms. We had no intention to go anywhere but one step in to look at historical hanging photos. We were then confronted and rudely told we needed to "leave this area, it is for guests only and we aren't taking guests this weekend", i explained we were just looking at the photos to which she said "guests only" and slammed door between guest stairwell area and the lobby. This is not the Hilton, so do not expect mints on your pillows, but it is rustic, full of history, and the staff are very welcoming. For as old as these buildings are, they are exactly the way they should be.... historical. As always, leave it better than you found it and enjoy 😉.
