Humboldt Gables Motel

I travel through the Redwoods regularly for work. This motel is where I stay with my usual schedule. It is older but well maintained. Dave takes pride in soft, clean, white towels and other aspects of his rooms. I enjoy the fridge, the hot water (unlike some other older motels), and I especially like the safety I feel there during my one night stay. As a woman traveling alone through the area I've had a number of questionable, and sometimes scary, situations at motels. I appreciate Dave cares about the kind of guests he has and I have a clean, quiet, and safe place to stay.

If you're looking for The Ritz, move on. But if you want a clean, comfortable place to lay your head give this one a try. This is a family run business and the owner shared a wealth of information and tips for the area, including a nice place for breakfast the next morning. All of his recommendations made us wish we had time to stay a few more days to explore the area. The decor is a bit dated, but it is clean and comfortable. The bed was very comfortable and we all slept well. The towels were fresh and fluffy. The shower had great water pressure and had an ample supply of hot water. The fridge/freezer combo was larger than we uually see in hotels. S nuce surprise. The only complaint we had was the fact that the rooms aren't very soundproof. My wife & I were very happy with our stay here. Budget-friendly, clean, good TV, friendly owner. You will have to call to make a reservation, but it's worth it. After 5 days camping it was nice to have a clean bed and bathroom. The towels are amazing.

Humboldt Gables Motel is an older motel but has been well cared for. Calling to make a reservation was easy, as was check in. The room was spacious and very clean. There was a small , refrigerator, a microwave, coffee maker, a table and two chairs, smart tv, wifi. It takes a while to get the hot water to the shower but once you do there is plenty of water pressure and the hot shower is enjoyable. There are laundry facilities available for a small fee. The owner is a very caring person and willing to share information about things in the area to see. If we are ever in this area again this is where we will stay.

BUT... I decided to splurge & spend my money elsewhere. I decided to share because the desk clerk knew people from the latter 20TH. CENTURY. He was very cordial; straight to the point, I stayed in JUNE 2019 for a night... yes the reviews are true is you like it rustic INDEED. My room was very clean; the bathroom, the large TV FLAT screen on the wall made it worth the $85 last June as he mentioned summer rates. I know it's appealing to locals; perhaps, in-between jobs as well as truck 🚚 drivers preferring a hot 🚿 & comfortable bed 🛌. Walls are thin; so it's a trade off but if the neighbors 🍩 don't make a lot of NOISE... you'll drift off to a very comfortable sleep. I recommend it for a night 🌙 but my room was very clean so you might like to stay for the weekend. If the middle-age male clerk
