Hotel Ruby Sandpoint | Ponderay

Such a great hotel! The indoor hot tubs and pool were great at the end of the long day with kids. We went in January hoping for snow, and got our wish! The hotel has sleds you can rent from the front desk for free and a fun sledding hill behind the pool area. The room was clean and perfect for our large group (we had the Family Suite) and everyone we met was super friendly and helpful. The drive to downtown Sandpoint is less than ten minutes. The free breakfast buffet at the restaurant next door was an amazing added benefit! The man running it was so nice and attentive (without being pushy) and the food was way better than usual free hotel breakfast. (Pancakes, sausage, bacon, eggs, potatoes, biscuits and gravy, toast, fruit and yogurt bar) all in all we had a great time and would stay her

Hotel Ruby couldn't have been better. Friendly helpful staff, great location for hiking and mountain biking, clean rooms, great value! I particularly loved the extras - small but functional fitness room where everything worked, complimentary full breakfast at the restaurant just across the parking lot, complimentary bicycles with helmets to check out, pool and hot tub. I would definitely return to The Ruby when I visit this area next!

Positive: The staff were very kind, they even text me and asked if I needed anything and when I messaged them, I got quick response time and help with what was needed. We left our room early one morning and realized we left the AC off- the staff turned it back on! Negative: No elevator was a small hiccup but other than that we love the place.

I spent a week in the Ponderay area for business, and Hotel Ruby Sandpoint turned out to be a solid home base. I arrived after dark, and the front‑desk staff member greeted me with the kind of warmth that instantly makes you feel like you picked the right place to stay. My room was ready and located on the second floor. One thing to note: there’s no elevator. Not a big deal for me hauling my bags up the stairs, but it could be tricky for some travelers. Once inside, the room was clean and comfortable. A few fixtures looked a bit dated, but everything was well‑maintained and in good working order — no mystery switches or flickering lights trying to communicate in Morse code. Amazing experience, as usual. Rooms are clean, beds are comfortable, 2 Jacuzzis heated to perfection and a pool for the kids. But the best part is the farm to table breakfast that's included in your stay.
