Hotel Anthracite

In town for a family reunion, and chose the Anthracite for our base. The hotel is very nice, covered parking in the rear, large well-furnished courtyard in the center. ||The room was clean, 50" TV , large closet, desk, refrigerator and microwave. I was kind of surprised that there was no phone or coffee maker setup, but we bring our own Keurig with us, and we both have our own phones, so not a big deal.||The hotel is located in the old coal-mining section of northern Pennsylvania, and it shows. At the bar, and on the restaurant tables are jars filled with small chunks of coal, pictures of some of the coal mining era that my Grandfather and Great-Grandfather worked in "back in the day" adorn the walls in the hallways.||Desk clerks, wait staff, cleaning crew and maintenance guys were all nic

Positive: The location was what we needed, and the accessible room was large and comfortable and had a nice view to boot. Negative: 1) doors from street had auto-open buttons, but doors from handicapped parking spots did not.2) they were unable to break a $20; we felt bad about not tipping the breakfast waiter or the maid. Said they're headed towards no cash.

Breakfast service is fantastic! Room was missing a place to hang clothes or coats (no closet or hanging rack of any kind). Wonderful atmosphere, good parking. No USB ports in room, so bring your own plug-ins.

For the price was expecting 5 star amenities...towels are thin, toiletries are cheap ....however rooms are clean and service very good. Continental breakfast was poor for this level of hotel...coffee was awful...grounds floating and it was brought out by the small cup. Experience not what I expected for so much money...stayed at just as nice Holiday Inn... loved location in downtown Carbondale within walking distance to whole town.

My daughter was having her wedding at this venue several guests were from out of town she blocked out 10 rooms at a set price when guest booked the rooms they were overcharged significantly. Their taxes on the rooms were not the same changing frequency with more being charged on guests credit cards several times. As we tried to address the issues with the hotel everyone there were clueless on how to address the issue we had several guest cancel their reservations and had to stay at other hotels. Some never got their refund back as of today 2 days after the wedding. The rooms were cancelled a month ago one couple had to file a dispute with their credit card company to get a refund. This made things very hard for our guests and alot more pressure on the bride herself. Of course my self m
