Hotel Alice at Atlantic Beach

If I could give a 0, based on this one experience, we would. Our flight home was canceled due to the big storm, and we had to wait 4 1/2 days for a flight home. We decided to drive to Atlantic Beach from Charlotte, to visit my husband's home town. We booked a king bed at the Alice on Monday morning, to stay Tuesday and Wednesday night. We arrived and were told that checking in at 3 pm instead of 4 would cost us $25. We were tired, so we just said ok. THEN he advised us that he didnt have any king rooms because he had 2 other people show up and took his last king rooms. Since we booked through Expedia, he couldn't refund our money. We asked for an ocean view room, at least. Instead, he put us in a 2 doubles room, NOT on the ocean side. These beds literally could NOT hold 2 people, so we end

This is a really nice hotel to stay at that's very close to the beach. I've stayed here multiple times for business. All you have to do is walk across the street to use the public access path. The hotel is clean and quiet along with the room. I'm normally there in the off season so the bar is only open on the weekends. However you're very close to great restaurants.

Positive: Great location and very complete service overall. Friendly staff. Just cross the street and you’re at the beach. Negative: I read many reviews mentioning the bed to be hard, I think the bed were perfect. Maybe there’s people who like them too soft.I would like that they had dining options inside the hotel, but there were restaurants 5 minutes away (closing early, but good)

Edit: The manager reached out to us after this stay, wanting to make things right. We deeply appreciate it. We decided to come back to give it one more try, and this time the stay was a lot better. The hospitality was very good, and we enjoyed our stay. I can tell that they took our feedback seriously. Unfortunately, the rooms do need to be better cleaned. The AC unit in our room was black from not being cleaned, and we woke up on our last night with a live cockroach in our bed…. Apart from this, this was a better stay. This is where we stay two or three times a year while we are in town for fishing charters. The staff are always friendly and helpful. They are remodeling the rooms and giving the hotel a new look. The water pressure is lacking and the only reason for this 4 star was the picture near the bed had mold inside of it. We love this place!
