Hometown Guesthouse

We found the room to be very clean and comfortable! The staff was matter of fact but friendly. The room key is a real key, unlike the plastic security cards used by chain hotels. The TV was an old tube TV, but worked fine. The room had a small microwave and frig which was nice! We didn't try the breakfast. All in all, an enjoyable stay!

This hotel was a pleasant surprise to find in small town Iowa. Far better than others I've stayed at. Better than many of the larger chain hotels. The lobby was clean with a modern decor. The staff was very friendly. What keeps me from giving it 5 stars is the room absolutely reeked of stale cigarette smoke. The bathroom was clean, but the shower curtain was filthy. We will definitely stay here again, but will definitely request a different room.

We were treated very well at the Hometown Guesthouse. It's a nice, new motel kept immaculately clean, with free wifi. Comfortable beds and plenty of nice soft towels. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and went above and beyond what was required to help us out. There's a simple continental breakfast included. For those wanting a bit more, a truckstop nearby sells a tasty slice of breakfast pizza for $2. ||||There aren't a lot of lodging choices nearby, thank goodness for Hometown Guesthouse!

Hometown Guesthouse was perfect for our needs. We were in the area visiting family in Cherokee and Remsen so the location was spot on between both towns. It is conveniently located right off the highway and was very clean and quiet. The room also had a refrigerator which was nice to have available. The breakfast was simple which included fruit, oatmeal, yogurt, a variety of breads each day, cereal, Pop tarts, coffee, milk, and juice. As someone else mentioned there is a gas station and restaurant across the road if you want eggs or a little more. The friendly staff made us feel right at home. We will definitely be staying here again.

We had a wedding in Marcus and the whole crew from Louisiana stayed at the Hometown Guesthouse. A wonderful stay! The girls working there are SO FRIENDLY and helpful for needs of guests. We laughed and joked together! More like friends the hotel staff. The beds were super comfortable; I slept like a baby! Thanks so much!!!
