Holiday Inn Express Union City (San Jose) by IHG

I stayed here in the middle of a move and needed an affordable room with flexible dates and within reasonable proximity of our house. The hotel was in the middle of a renovation but the noise level was not as disruptive as I expected it to be. The main inconvenience was having to wait a bit longer for the solitary elevator during certain periods as the construction workers needed it to move materials around, but it was hardly an issue. The breakfast selection was simply adequate and almost exactly the same every single day, though most guests don’t stay as long as I did and so probably won’t mind. I was assigned a room that had not been renovated yet, and it showed its age; at some point, a room will always look slightly unclean no matter how much housekeeping cleans it, it’s just too old.

Staff is very friendly and very welcoming when you walk into the hotel at the front desk. The rooms are always very clean and beds are super comfy! I work third shift and even though renovations are going on, I do not hear a thing. I would gladly invite my travel friends to stay here on an assignment! :)

It’s a Holiday Inn express so it’s gonna be consistent in terms of the rooms and the cleanliness. But the staff is always the tricky one. Imagine showing up at midnight. Tired. Needing your room and sleep before your meetings and the doors locked, no staff at the desk. No one answering the phone. And then there was his lack of English and his attitude. Made for a great introduction. Then the building. The place is ripped apart right now for renovations. So no gym, no pool, and the hallways look like a war zone. Changing my next reservation I already had liked up for here.

The Hotel room we stayed in was clean and well maintained. The staff is friendly and helpful, room is comfortable and big enough with full size refrigerator. Despite the construction going on it was not noisy. I will like to stay here again when next I visit the area.

Had a renovated room. Blood stain on sofa. No electrical outlets on desk. Only two USB plugs in entire room and they were on one side of bed. Pancake machine broken. No cinnamon rolls at 9am. Breakfast goes till 9:30. No ice in ice machine on third floor. Not very good for Holiday Inn. Disappointed
