Holiday Inn Express & Suites Miami-Kendall by IHG

I don’t recall why I chose this location awhile back but perhaps in comparison to other options it was the most reasonable. We had a great experience with a HIX in Phoenix and thus were open to the brand. Pros: great location, 1 front desk staff was helpful, quiet, comfy bed, great pool deck for catching sun, room was unusually spacious, and it worked. Appeared clean but I didn’t look to close (perhaps consistent with the broader Miami area 😉) Cons: hotel appears to have undergone a budget and partial remodel, and it’s wearing thin. Shower was awful; hard to get hot water, low pressure erratic stream. Sink was the same. More of a motel feel in quality of furnishings and appearance.

Quick polite check in. We were on the third floor and room was large and very clean. Huge comfy bed with a range of soft or hard pillows. Comfy chair in room along with fridge, pod coffee maker and safe. Bathroom was a good size and shower was powerful. They provide Dove toiletries and there is also a hairdryer and iron/ironing board. Lots of drawer and hanging space. Breakfast area was large with lots of choice. Pancake maker, cinnamon buns, toast, bagels, cereal and each day hot items would change and included omelettes , bacon, patties, biscuits and gravy. We stayed 2 nights and housekeeping came in but only emptied the bins and changed the towels that we used. We had to make the bed ourselves. No one notified us that the hotel was under renovations, a lot of dust and after my sister pass on that corridor, the black cover almost felt over her. She has claustrophobia and when she arrived around 1am on Saturday, sehe requested to have access to the stairs and the reception guy was very rude to her and said that he could not open the door and he said can’t you see that I am on the phone? He dad his earphones on. I am allergic and did not sleep from the dust.

Sadly is the first time I have such a bad experience in a Holiday inn hotel. As soon as we arrived both key rooms didn’t worked. Had to be reprogrammed every time we left the room. They didn’t do cleaning rooms on 2 out of 3 nights and the only response is “we will inform the the concerned department, there is no one to make your young at night, we will compensate with 500 points” ( which is nothing! And I’m not looking for points, I’m looking for service) And the cherry on the cake, our room was assigned to another guest, they came and open the room !!! Fortunately we were still awake and dressed 🥴 That is something really annoying and at certain point dangerous. What if you are naked or just sleeping and someone suddenly enters to your room??? Roaches crawling all over me while I slept. Beds sinking in the center. Ac smells like mildew. Slept and woke up the next morning with itching skin, Mr and my wife. No comp or even an apology from staff. No other availability near me as my flight was cancelled. Had to book another room unfortunately.. literally a roach motel. Don’t stay here
