Customer Reviews
Absolutely beautiful, peaceful, and tucked off the beaten path. The Ocean Pond campground next door was more like a circus than a campground. This is what true boondocking is supposed to be like. Stayed in campsite 9 where we could access the water to go out paddle boarding. Too all the people talking negative of the "homeless." Shame on you. I pray you never end up in their situation. I live/work full time in my skoolie conversion, so are you going to lump me in as "homeless" as well? The one couple here that yuppies may consider "homeless" because they didn't have a vehicle were friendly and we had no issues what so ever with them. Camp hosts are super friendly as well. Grateful to have stayed in such a beautiful place ❤️
Very nice host; scenic and quiet place. Amazing campsite location just on the lake. Bear-proof trash cans everywhere and compost restroom at the end of the campground (just in front of the small day-use area). The day-use area closes at dusk and requires a $5 fee while camping is $10 a night. Make sure to bring exact change since fees are paid via envelopes. Also, bring firewood with you, they don't sell it like some state parks. Generally, the campsite has a picnic table and an in-ground fire pit (no grill). Unfortunately, reservations are not possible, first-come first-served. T-Mobile signal is acceptable.
I love camping here. Cost $2 night, free with access pass. Drop envelope honor system. They added sites and even added new picnic tables while I was here. Peak season is during general hunting season usually Nov 1 thru Jan 9. Unlimited camping at that time. Outside that it's 14 days in a 30 day period which you must vacate the forest, not move to another campsite. I love building campfires with the unlimited supply of fatwood/fatlighter. May through November the yellow flies will eat you alive so avoid them months or bring the Deet. There is a little store about 5 miles away. Full amentities 16-20 miles away in Lake City. 20 miles the other direction is MacClenny. No redlights going that way. $1 for 20 lbs of ice vending there. First MacClenny exit down on the right.
Dark skies at night. Beautiful lake; nice campsites. 2 pit toilets;
Spent 4 days in beginning of Sept seen one wild boar an lot an lots of bugs. Couldn't even hardly leave the trailer couldn't go for walk. Was very nice besides that.
