Historic Hollywood Beach Resort

I have been by the place many times and it always amazes me. I have had tours of the place just because the location is great. It appears to be vacant and very scary looking. I am always hoping it has improved ....NOPE... what a waste of a nice property. Less than one star

We love the close proximity to the boardwalk and it has oceanview rooms. Studio has a full kitchen. No balconies though.

We stayed in a privately owned unit (225) and had a good experience. Our unit was clean and had all the basics. The resort itself is very old and most of the commercial spaces are abandoned. The common areas are still originally furnished and the structure itself is badly in need of renovation, so if you are looking for fancy and modern this isn’t the place for you. That said, the facilities were clean and security did a fabulous job of keeping things quiet. The hotel front desk staff wasn’t the best but since we were renting from an owner, we didn’t have a lot of dealings with them. The one problem we experienced was that everything smelled like marijuana. Although a non-smoking facility, it was obvious people do smoke...probably in the private units. It was a great atmosphere. The hall way carpet most definitely needs to be replaced due to the mold smell. The rooms did not smell, very comfy. Pool area is great, the beach is clean. This is an old hotel many things should be remodeled although it's historic somethings really need to be changed. But other than that the check in and out staff were very helpful. Parking is terrible though, due to memorial w/e the valet company tool advantage and was charging $45 and self parking $35. Thankfully they honored the $18 self parking for me due to my reservation that stated that, I did not even have to ask, they did it automatically. Would I stay there again? Yes

I booked this hotel before reading the awful reviews and was very weary about keeping my reservations for our vacation. All I can say is this was one of my favorite trips. Does the hotel need some updating?? Definitely. But all the staff was friendly and helpful . Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Everything worked well...air conditioner, fridge, microwave, and stove. The location was amazing and the resort pool was clean and warm. We would definitely stay here again and probably will again this year. I really can't wait to go back. Sue from Rochester, NY
