High Point Cross Country Ski Center

Nice people, passionate about the sport but not intimidating if you are a beginning, very good equipment quality (Salomon, Fisher). Trails are not as good as Europe, but it’s only 1h30min from NYC. Green trail is excellent for learning and skating fast. Blue trail offers nice view points and has an interesting parcours with ups and downs.

Awesome local gem. We're so lucky to have this facility in our community. It gets busy in the center after good snow so be prepared or come early. But once you're on the trails there is plenty of space for everybody to spread out. Even on the busiest days I found myself alone on the trail multiple times. It's a tough time for ski facilities with so few natural snow days anymore, and yet they do a great job with trail maintenance, and still offer excellent quality rentals at a fair price.

The trails were beautifully groomed, smooth and scenic, perfect for beginners and experienced skiers alike. The owners are Norwegian and bring deep, lifelong expertise in all things cross-country skiing. The views are some of the best in the East. The trails are wide, well-groomed and have an astonishing amount of snow. The ski center is in a gorgeous historic lodge with huge Adirondack-style chairs and sofas around a roaring fire. The staff all share an infectious enthusiasm. The price is a fraction of what it costs to go downhill skiing. Pure joy. We will be back. Regularly.
