High Plains Camping

The sites listed for viewing is the over night spaces in the very back. They look neat and clean. However the other sites are not kept up. The tables at some of the sites need to be removed as they are broken and a hazard. The drive is gravel and the space to park your RV is on grass that is infested with stickers. Very bad everywhere and not kept up with high grass so hooking up was not fun. We were planning to be here long term for about six months for work but decided to find somewhere better. In our two weeks time we spent here they did come mow but only the sites that were empty which included the one next to ours and flung stickers on our camper and our vehicle and onto the gravel drive. We booked this campground in February 2024, Started our trip out West in mid April. Mid May we got a call from home and had to get home asap for a family emergency. Called the campground to cancel on May 12 for a June 12 reservation. First call was fine. They would cancel reservation and credit our card minus a $10 cancellation fee. A month later no credit. Second call I was told they could see our cancellation and the owner would issue the credit within two days. Called several times after this and left message. Third time I actually got someone one the phone it happened to be the owner. She said we never cancelled and she would not return the money. This woman was as rude as she could be, very inconsistent on why she would not return the money and I think she was making up the

Just traveling through and we were ready to be done for the night and came across this campground. Office was closed, but easy instructions to be able to pick and pay for a spot! Settled in to our full hookup spot and was able to get a great night sleep! Quiet campground and we did not hear the interstate noise as I saw in other reviews! Our spot was very clean and maintained. We did not use any of the amenities but we would definitely stay here again! So glad we found this place!!

Campground is neglected. I am tolerable to a place needing repairs but when the grass isn't cut that it's so high rabbits are hiding in it and there a is a Z mower sitting there you start to feel like they are just lazy. A coat of paint on the barn would also do a lot to improve it. We stayed in far nicer campgrounds on this trip for $50 a night or less. If you're not going to make it presentable then charge less. Since the owner called me and accuse me of lying in my review I have gone back on to add pictures. They don't show as well as I'd like how high the grass is. The last picture by the barn shows the picnic table buried in the weeds. I'm sorry that she has no remorse for the condition of her facility. My husband and I spent a couple of nights here. Site was level and grass was fine. We didn't get any stickers that some mention. The new owners have been there since 2022 and are trying to bring the place up to the plains gem it can be. They have sprayed for the stickers and are working on replacing the picnic tables. The owners were from our home state of Tennessee and we enjoyed visiting with them. The homemade pizza is good. The Mexican restaurant next door is not only convenient but really good also. We will definitely be back and look forward to seeing what they have done next!
