Probably the worst campground I have been to.... This is a long story but will give context to the whole experience. I booked a spot at this campground for one night because it was halfway between my house and chicago. I went to book online and a 1 night stay was $50 plus $7 in 'campground fees'. I pick my spot on the map because I knew that I was going to have to leave early in the morning while it was still dark so i wanted to hook up and pull out with little effort to be respectful of other that were camping. looking at the map I picked a spot that was angled toward the road so it was perfect. When I went to check out, it asked if I wanted to spend ANOTHER $19 to 'guarantee' my spot. I said no, thinking I already picked it so why do I need to spend more. At check out it said that my sp
This is a difficult review to write. The campground is clean, well shaded, has nice amenities, friendly staff, and deserves 5 stars. However, next door to the campground is a trap shooting sportsman club. From our arrival at 4:30 in the afternoon until it got dark at 9pm we listened to near constant shotgun blasts. The shooters were so close that we could hear them calling "pull" and then the shooting would begin. I don't know if the shooting club operates every day or just on Wednesdays, the day we were there. What I do know is that if you have a pet that is afraid of fireworks or loud noises, you must avoid this campground, or at least, first verify what days the shooting club operates. If the shooting club is quiet you'll like this place. If the shooting is going on your daylig
The campground is mostly permanent spots with only a handful or so of visiting sites. It was $50 a night for electric and the spot is very small. We hardly had much space for anything. We came for one night as a pass through so thankfully we didn’t need a whole lot. The grounds are very cramped overall and sadly the permanent neighbors were loud until 2am. There’s a bar and people were out all night. The bathrooms aren’t great and stalls are separated by plywood walls. The grounds were ok as far as mowed and free of trash and debris but the permanent spots for many looked run down, rusted and homemade. This just wasn’t a campground we were expecting to visit overnight and given the price having to hear people scream all night wasn’t great.
We stayed for a month and hope to be back next summer. I did read about the gun club on the website. I have three dogs and it didn’t faze them. The laundry room is reasonably priced and the machines do a great job. My four year old granddaughter visited twice, she loved the mini golf and playground area. We were lucky enough to stay Labor Day weekend during their annual fundraiser. The walking tacos provided by campground kids were amazing, wonderful vendor booths and I won a raffle prize🙂I only visited the restrooms with granddaughter and it was always clean and fresh smelling. The sites are tight but being FT RVers it is something we run into quite often. Thank you for a wonderful month.
We stayed last weekend for the first time they didn't mention to us on the phone when I reserved gun range next door so gun fire all weekend. Right spots slide to slide. Also felt very clicky and not welcoming also had concert sat night and the pot smoke can't deal with that. Not gonna stay here again
