Hessel on the Lake

Just spent a week here at Hessel on the Lake in cabin 12. A very nice resort with a great view. We basically had the place to our selves and enjoyed the peace and tranquility. The dock facilities are first rate. Hessel is a lovely little village and we copuld walk to everything we needed. Lovely area, should be called the Venice of the North with all the beautiful waterways. A real boaters paradise. Cabin and resort were spotless. Owners came by every day to make sure everything was OK. Will definately consider going back.

Glad we found this place. We have rented a few different cabins here, and have always been pleased. I love to fish and this place give you quick access to many different fishing opportunities. Big water for big boats and channels for small boats that love to catch fish. Close to many trails and not to bad of a drive to the falls, or even over the bridge. Never really busy either. The staff here are really friendly and will guide you in the right direction for a great time.

We found this place online while searching for a place to get away. Besides the beautiful location on the water in Hessel, MI in the Les Cheneaux area, the owners Dennis and Kathy Fox were fantastic, the cabins are very clean extremely well cared for, and in excellent condition. All we had to bring was our food and our own towels. We stayed in Cabin 5 Higgins house, and it was well equipped and very comfortable. In the front yard we played volleyball, shuffleboard and horseshoes. The beach is sandy, the view is magnificent and the fishing was excellent for pike. It is a laid back place, but a very welcoming atmosphere and we found many new friends from the families who have been coming back to this place for many years. We stayed at Unit 12 - Bascom House the 1 bedroom cottage with queen bed. The bedroom was very comfortable; I’ve never slept so well. The open kitchen (w/ dishwasher & microwave), is also a dining and living area. Call or e-mail ahead of time for amenities, you may want to bring some items from home if you plan to cook. If you are missing anything, Kathy and Denis will accommodate your need. A grill is also available. It has a SINGLE (but comforting) whirlpool bath/shower and the bathroom includes a washer/dryer--the dryer was not working, but we received free tokens for the use of the resort dryer. Cozy and comfortable, but be prepared it is a cabin weekend, so no internet and the TV was small with few stations available so it gives you a chance to reconnect w/ family; and Hessel on the

I was attending a 3 day class at the Great Lakes Boatbuilding School which is nearby. The cabin was clean and comfortable, and the grounds were surprisingly quiet at night. Denis is the owner and he was very helpful and accomodating. I would definitely stay again. There is a marina just a block away and a small beach on the property. Fantastic stay!
