Herring Run Motel

SO ANGRY with this place. I am unable to give a review of the room and hotel due to the fact that it was closed and under construction when we arrived for check-in. There were no emails or phone calls or any other type of communication. They took the reservation and money and ran. No idea who the owner is or if there is a new owner. The many phone numbers online are either disconnected or go directly to an automated reservation line. No help from anyone and I am out lots of money. So angry. I’d like someone to respond to this to see if this can be resolved.I don’t have my hopes up. 10/29/2024 This is a response to Herring Run Motel‘s response. As I stated in my first email, there was no contact from you. No emails, no phone calls and no texts. I made the reservation in the month of April,

Showed up at night just due to airline timing, totally under construction. Had no idea rolling up until we spoke to people doing the work. Had to call around to find somewhere to stay and everyone was booked. Absolutely no emails or phone calls about the room ahead of time. Room was paid in advance, and that's gone now. Wish the new or old owners would fix this. Edit, 29 Oct 2024: I got the same automated generic response that others got on their review. It's a blatant lie that they tried to contact people. If you're the owner, forward me the emails you sent. You have my email address and say you sent emails. Send them again. You can't. Don't stay here.

I couldn't check in here when I stopped by. I made my reservation 8 months in advance, but when I arrived, it looked deserted. No one was there to check in. I knocked, rang the doorbell, and called many times. No one picked up. I had to find alternative accommodations elsewhere at great expense. I do not recommend this place. Edit: in reply to the owner, NO, I didn't get any calls, texts, or emails about the closure prior to my visit. Nor did anyone respond to my calls or texts on the day of my visit. My review stands. Let it be a warning to all: avoid this place!!

The cabin was clean but otherwise run down. Bed was very uncomfortable. The TV was not working. Overall a dump! It was like staying in a shack.The grounds were completely unkept. Weeds were growing everywhere. The cabin had a musty odor. It smelled like mold.

They closed and didn't cancel anyone's reservation. People were all being sent to another hotel by the construction crew there because they were nice. That hotel was fill because all the customers were sent there. Tried two more in the area. Ended up having to go super far. The owners and new owners didn't call anyone or cancel anyone's reservation. No call no emails. Just showed up and it was under construction. Do not recommend if the new management isn't even going to do anything to help the customers who did book. The website disappeared, phone number didn't have a voicemail set up. No way of contacting. Terrible handover (if there even was one)
