Hawk Recreation Area

Hawk Recreation Area is a hidden gem! The campgrounds are clean and well-maintained, with designated tent pads, fire pits, picnic tables, and outhouses at each site. The area is peaceful and quiet, perfect for a relaxing getaway. There are several hiking trails to explore, and the cell service is surprisingly good for a remote spot. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great outdoor experience!

Quiet area. Lot's of gnats this time of year. No real trails here. Campsites are marked ok. Has nice tent pads for each site. Dog friendly.

Gorgeous area, especially in the fall, roads are cool through the mountain, easy gravel roads. Nothing challenging. Campground is decent if you can take the outhouse style bathroom.

Great spot with amenities ruined by hunters. Every year its the same. Deficating all over the latrines and floor while they sleep in RVs down the road. Sorry for visitors who have to endure that bs. I know all hunters aren't guilty, but these guys all know each other and do it every year. Illegal hunting activities because no one cares. Shame on their treatment of public facilities. Definitely avoid this place during hunting season

I camped in this place for two seasons (2015 and 2016). I was really excited about it at first. It was secluded and on the primitive side, which I guess keeps it for the right crowd. But you do hear generators sometimes in the distance, and the spot appears to often be under a sky highway of low-flying planes. Two incidents turned me off: the mosquitoes and the stink bugs. If mosquitoes love you, go in spring and fall, but not summer. Also avoid stink bugs late fall because they come out IN DROVES! They will enter in every thing they find, including your hair and shirt and tent and bags, and between the car window cracks. They will winter in your car and fly into your face while driving next spring as they come out!!! These insects came over from Asia and they are now taking over large par
