Customer Reviews
The hospitality is warm and inviting and the food at Wingo's is delicious. We highly recommend the nachos with the homemade chips, the chicken wings and the steak sandwich.
Seventeen of us recently rode our ATV's on the Hatfield McCoy trails from Gilbert to Matewan and spent the night at the Hatfield-McCoy Resort. They are usually closed on a Wednesday night in early April but the owners graciously opened their inn to our group. They served us a delicious BBQ dinner on Wednesday evening (~$15 each) and breakfast on Thursday morning (~$8 or less each). Both meals were very good and the rooms, while not fancy, were very clean and comfortable. However, the best part was the hospitality of the owner and her staff. I would like to say they treated us like family but it was better than that. As my brother said "it was like staying at a friend's house". Needless to say, I recommend this business to anyone wanting to stay in Matewan.
Stayed here in town for our 3rd trip to the Hatfield McCoy Trails after finding ourselves in Matewan for food on previous trips. Ample gravel parking lot out back between the one-way street leaving town and the flood wall of the Tug River/walking path. No need to unhitch the rig, since there are several places to eat in town, including the owner’s place next door (Wingo’s). Our room was on the first level and clearly had been some sort of store in the historic building, and it was rather large. The storefront window was the living room area with a sofa, coffee table, side table, and TV. The outside wall had a dining table and a full kitchen with a little stool near the coffeepot. The inside wall had two large beds each with a shelf and hanger area and there was a little kids room in the ba
Absolutely enjoyed our stay here!! Staff was so friendly, we were right above their AMAZINGLY GOOD restaurant, and it is just a great place to be! Thank you for letting us stay with you. We highly recommend this place!
There were a lot of great things about this property -|Location was perfect for what we needed|Price was extremely reasonable|The host was amazing, Kathy was above and beyond helpful and friendly|The patio out back was great for hanging out and enjoying a glass of wine (BYO)|Wingo's next door (same owner) has good food and a fantastic staff|Mini fridge and microwave, hot showers||A few FYIs if you're thinking about coming -|The walls are VERY thin. We heard every word from everyone else in the place, and ATV-ers are early morning people. Lots of loud 5:30am conversation each morning. |It's pretty no-frills. Bring your own hair dryer, coffee cup (styrofoam is provided), etc. Not a problem, just something to know for next time.||Our room had 5 twin beds in it plus a separate sitting area wit
