Harding Cabin

Let’s answer the question most people usually ask first about a place you stay - would you stay there again? The answer - I don’t think so. We understood going in this is a cabin built in 1918, so things like layout, amenities, etc. have to be set at expectations appropriate to what you’re working with. And granted, the park service did do a renovation years back to bring it up to more modern standards. But the kicker that is the disappointment to the property is that there just seems to have been very little maintenance, and the cabin was filthy, which are all avoidable negatives. When we first arrived we spent nearly 2 hours cleaning the cabin to rid it of all the dead (and alive) bugs, dirt, spider webs and more to even decide if we wanted to stick it out, or not. This is a fun cabin on the lake. My family has been coming here for years (40+). It is disappointing that the cabin doesn't have stairs all the way to the water any more. The cabin also doesn't appear to be as well maintained. The railing down the hill was shattered, the kitchen supplies seemed to be haphazardly supplied or missing altogether. Wifi was available last year but not this year and the staff was pretty rude about it, as opposed to the helpful staff last year

Nice views but a very strange layout. The two full sized beds are in the same room but divided by an accordian curtain. The twin beds are in separate rooms in front of the room with the full sized beds. You have to go thru one bedroom to get to the other. The website does not reflect any of this. We managed to work with the layout and still had an enjoyable time. I wouldn't choose this cabin in the summer because it is next to the boat ramp access and parking lot. In fact, the public restroom for the ramp is on the cabin's side yard, which doesn't allow for much privacy.

Beautiful, peaceful place to enjoy nature. Lots of hiking spots back to the beautiful lodge.
