Hampton Inn Sturgis-Lagrange Area

Rooms were kind of goth like with red carpet and walls, a little creepy looking. The breakfast was not great, but hey, it was complimentary, I made it work. It was close to the highway, so easy to get back on my way once I checked out.

Hotel is nice. They seem to be understaffed so service was not as I would expect for a Hilton property. Room was good but AC/heater unit didn't really work well. Thermostat set to 64 and tempature in the room was 70.

The hotel was OK, but had some issues. ||I had checked in on line and already selected my room so check in was quick. The clerk was pleasant.||The room smelled kinda musty even though the AC was set at 64F. The room was not 64 degrees. We didn't stick around long because we had a family gathering. Later in the evening the musty smell was much worse. it was almost midnight so we just went to sleep. however, both of us were awake several times with congestion and scratchy throats. We switched rooms in the morning. ||The room we got was a little smaller and still had a slightly musty odor. I will admit that the entire area around the hotel had a musty burning inversion kinda smell especially in the farming areas just up in Michigan. however, the common areas did not have any smel

As other reviews stated, pretty much the whole place needed a good going over: Stained tile grout, mismatched wall paper repairs, dirt in corners, etc. The elevator is a bit rough and noisy to the point of the first time catches you off guard. Breakfast was ...ok. No juice at all. minimal choices. Tub in room had someone's bloody foot mark in it! A/C was VERY loud. I've stayed in many Hamptons and this is by far at the bottom.
