Hampton Inn Elkhorn Lake Geneva Area

We have stayed here several times. Only a 15-min drive to downtown Lake Geneva! Considering it is pet-friendly, the hotel is fantastically clean. I'm picky about cleanliness, and have found all rooms we've occupied to be satisfactory. I read a review where someone suggested updates to the rooms, but the rooms seem modern and stylish to me. The front desk staff and housekeepers have always been exceptionally kind and good at anticipating needs. The complimentary bottled water and sack lunches/fresh fruit are a nice touch. I've found the complimentary breakfast to be very good. There's a wide selection, and I especially appreciate that the eggs aren't salty or overseasoned. The more recent reviews are spot on. Dirty carpet, odd TV placement, smells like old beer and cigarettes. Apparently if something does go wrong (like finding a hair clip in the bed, not enough towels, and a dead bolt that doesn't lock, it's the guests job to call the front desk. I tried walking to the front desk, but the hall was blocked by people waiting to visit an "outside vendor." While I understand they are "pet friendly," having to step over a dog (and a dog bed) completely blocking a hallway isn't my cup of tea. ||There was no safe in the room, so allowing someone to come in and fix things, didn't feel like a good option. ||I agree with one poster: why would Hilton put their name on this building? There is no way I would stay here again.

Positive: Great staff. Weekday breakfasts were very good. Comfortable beds. Negative: Very soft water...hard to shower and shampoo.

We have stayed here 2 times, and both times the heater to the swimming pool was broken. The water was so cold, we could not even get in the water. Also, there is no hot tub, the new owners in 2022 took out the hot tub. I was very disappointed, after a long day skiing the pool and hot tub would have been nice for my muscles. Everything else was as expected. The staff were nice, the breakfast was normal. Strawberries for the waffles were a nice extra touch. And the staff showed us the nutrition information for the sausages, thank you. The room was cold at first, 64, but we turned up the heat and it eventually warmed up.

Hubby and I were out this way for a wedding, other reviews of hotels in the area were making me skeptical but Hampton Inn did not disappoint! Check in was easy (checked in on app) and using the digital key to access the building and our room was a breeze. The room was clean and welcoming, we even had a welcome message on the TV! Shower was clean and the air conditioning worked great 🤣 i’d definitely recommend staying here!
