Hale Seymour Lake Lodge

Recently stayed for a weekend of snowmobiling. Right off the trail for easy access. Very cozy and has the charm of Vermont Inn. Bed was comfortable, shower warm, JP the owner was friendly and welcoming. Pretty view of the lake, I'm sure in the summer it's quite nice to sit on the porch and relax. There are narrow stairs to navigate to some of the rooms, so may not be best for mobility impaired.

Great ambiance with a friendly, helpful host. I would highly recommend this place. The view of Seymour Lake is beautiful. The lodge is casual and interesting with a large, well equipped communal kitchen and various antiques are scattered throughout the parlor and dining area. The atmosphere encourages mingling with the other guests staying in one of the many unique rooms of the lodge.

Stumbled across this one when looking for a place to hang my hat for a night. Couldn't ask for better. Arrived about 5 PM on a dreary October afternoon after a very long day of the road. Host greeted us upon arrival and gave us not only a great tour of the place but a really interesting history of it. The grounds were perfect, my only wish is that I had it for more than just the one night but we were on a ten-day road trip and one overnight is all we could do. Comfortable bed and a great night's sleep. Went into Derby for dinner, woke up to a wonderful cool morning. Absolutely recommend. Pictures taken on this dreary day don't do it justice.

JP Hale is a true Northeast Kingdom character who runs his inn like, as he'll say, "Like Grandma's house but Grandma isn't home!" JP makes a strong pot if coffee, tells great stories, and provides sweet snacks and quick service, day & night, for any needs that arise and require his help. Doggies welcome!
