Renegade 38ft w/Jeep. Mid-September stay (Starting out - 5 stars) Site 23, which is a double site for $52 $18 recreation.gov (recreation.gov would not honor Golden Passport) or $26 paid here in cash/check). For our rig, this was an excellent site. 2 picnic tables and large recreation area behind the RV. Surrounded by trees, the site was exactly what we wanted after State Parks & RV parks. 2.5 miles on a dirt road that does have some rough spots but no real issues if your taking your time. The CG is open Mid June - Mid October. No water, no electric, one vault toilet surrounded by trees & mountains. Boondocking at its finest. We stayed at Steamboat Lake SP first where they have a dump & water. The Steamboat Lake Outpost (Co Rd 129) has gas & diesel (no canopy so big rigs fit). There are sev
Great old style campground with some very large pull through sites. *****Be aware, ourselves and another party did have squirrels get into our engine compartments down at the lakeside campsites. We were able to rattle it out with an aggressive 4x4 ride, not sure about the lady in the Subaru.******
Great campground Auth nice sis, friendly people, dark skies, and a fun fishing lake. When you come, be prepared for bugs though. The lake and woods circle with get them. At the right time if year, though (late spring and early summer) you will see a wide assortment of wildflowers near the stocked lake. You can also catch some other wildlife from mammals to birds to reptiles. We enjoyed our time and had plenty of space for our two good sized tents away from the well maintained fire pit.
This campground is in a lovely area with fishing, hiking, cycling, and four wheeling. There are two loops, the lower one is nearer to the lake. It's very popular with many pretty, level sites suitable for motorhomes. The upper loop where we stayed is just as nice. We had a big, level site with a great view of the surrounding hills and we even had a little privacy because of the way the site was situated. We chose this campground to ride out the weekend crowds before we tried for a spot at Steamboat Lake State Park. We spent three nights and completely enjoyed our stay at Hahns Peak Lake CG. Not all of the sites were reserved when we pulled in on Thursday, we did not have reservations, and we could not have been more delighted with this choice. The lake does not allow motorized boat
Beautiful campground! Lots of space at each site. Was able to comfortably fit 8 people and 2 dogs with 4 tents and 4 cars. Beautiful views and lake. Well-kept vaulted facilities and dumpsters available. No running water on site so pack it in.
