Green Valley Campground

A very quiet and peaceful campground. Occasionally, you can catch the pleasant scent of nearby plants in the air. The restrooms are among the cleanest I’ve seen at any campsite. We stayed at Site 5, which had a large space and was conveniently close to the restrooms. The site could probably fit two or three tents, but there’s likely only enough room to park one car. There are no showers in the campground, and Green Valley Lake is quite a distance away. It would take a while to walk there, so driving to the lake is a much better option.

I had an amazing weekend at Green Valley Campground with friends and family, and I highly recommend it! The campground is spacious, clean, and well-equipped with firepits, full working toilets, and fresh water. It’s perfect for kids to play safely, with campsites 4 and 5 offering great shade and seclusion. The nearby lake is ideal for fishing and paddle boating. The host, Donna, was incredibly kind and accommodating, checking on us regularly. When my wife accidentally left her purse behind, Donna went above and beyond to ship it back to us. This place is a gem for a peaceful, family-friendly camping experience!

2025 update: Still awesome. Tucked away between Big Bear and Arrowhead is the nice, quiet campground at Green Valley Lake. I've been twice now and found the camp hosts to be kind and welcoming, the bathrooms to be excellently maintained, and the setting pretty perfect. Most sites are sized well enough for a few tents, however there are a few with uneven, sloped terrain that might make a tent difficult: so van campers and RTT-users can claim those. Be sure to look at the available sites on something like campsitephotos, in addition to the ones on the reservation site, in order to gauge whether a site is good for your group. Some sites are tucked away and offer extreme privacy, and some ... well, don't. Some are expansive but lack a lot of level ground, most have at least some tree cover.

This is the highest spot to camp in Southern CA, at an elevation of 7,200 feet. The campground atmosphere is clean, serene, and rustic. The sites are level, maintained, and uncrowded. A few are more secluded, and would be good for birding. Roads inside the campground need maintenance, but are passable. Some turns looked challenging for larger RVs. No hook-ups. Restrooms available. A Camp Host was on-site. The four season weather at this elevation is generally dry. It rains approx. ten days annually. It's a short drive to the tiny resort village. Absolutely loved this campground! Just spent last weekend there. Our campsites were great. As a group of 7 we easily split 2 sites next to each other. But I will say it is hard to tell from the website how big each is. So if you have an opportunity scope out the different sites I highly recommend doing that. The bathrooms were kept very clean and well lit. The camp hosts are super nice and do an amazing job keeping an eye on things and keeping the sites tidy and ready for guests. Each site seems to be equipped with a fire pit and a bear box - which you definitely should use! We saw a bear while we were there. I would highly recommend this as a great place that feels far away and quiet but is honestly not too far of a drive from most of Southern California!
