Great Wolf Lodge | Pocono Mountains

We recently visited Great Wolf Lodge in the Pocono Mountains, and overall we had a wonderful experience. It was especially nice to have a warm indoor water park during the cold weather. Most importantly, my 5-year-old daughter absolutely loved it and had an amazing time, which made the trip very worthwhile for our family. The room itself was comfortable, although my wife did mention that she saw a cockroach in the bedroom. I personally didn’t see it, but it’s something the hotel should definitely pay attention to. One disappointing part of the trip was the food at one of the restaurants on the first floor. The prices were quite high but the quality was not good. The initial check-in service was very poor. A guest’s first experience at a hotel should be welcoming, not frustrating. The staff member was extremely discourteous. When I requested a room change, she complained about having to redo the wristbands. Overall, the service was consistently bad.||The beds in the rooms are terrible. The children’s beds are extremely hard, and the adults’ bed is small. It should be a true queen size, but it is not. The room itself is old and outdated.||The water park is clearly designed for very young children. My children did not enjoy it. I also found the park to be very dirty, with poor cleanliness standards. Long lines were constant. This is my second time in this hotel with my wife, very nice to be back there. The receptionists are very attentive. I thank everyone there for their attention. Great location. We spent a week here with our 7 and 9 year old children and had an absolutely amazing experience. Beyond the water park, there are kid friendly events scheduled throughout the day that help break things up and give families different activities to enjoy, such as dance parties, crafts, shows, bowling, putt putt, and MagiQuest. The hotel and water park areas were consistently being cleaned and maintained, and we never had any issues with cleanliness. The food options were good and there was something that appealed to our kids everywhere we ate. Our children were the perfect age for the water park and were able to enjoy all of the attractions, which made it just as fun for the parents. The themed kids room was also a huge hit with them. We've been to several Great Wolf Lodge's (2nd time here) but unfortunately this will be our last. Check-in was fast and easy. The gentleman helping folks was very helpful and polite. The ladies in charge of housekeeping were accommodating but that's where the good service ends. I understand this place has a bottom line, so I'm not upset that they hire young earners or about the cost of things, but I would like to be able to enjoy myself while here. I spent $2,000 for 2 days here. The lifeguards at the lazy river allow unattended kids to swim without tubes, going the wrong way, pushing people around while they play their games. They jump off the sides of the concrete and attempt to swim under floaters, kicking them in the process. Quiet hours are not enforced and just the general attitude o
