This was a great place to camp for a few days. We kayaked the lake and got to see lots of wildlife. Our 40 foot motor home fit nicely in one of 5 sites we could have chosen. There is one great site on the lake side I would highly recommend.

No water, electric, sewer dump or trash removal. On the Grey Reef impoundment of the North Platte. Wonderful camping and boat launching. One pit toilet. One picnic table shade structure.

The scenery is great and lots of fish to catch. So many deer just out and about just beware of snakes also. My fiance and I were visiting for 3 weeks and went fishing at least twice a week and caught something each time. The daily out of state fishing license was expensive, we could of bought the year license and went daily. Besides that it was one of the best places we've fished yet. Lots of rainbow trout and great for fly fishing.

It's a cool little place. The campsites aren't much to talk about but you are right on the river. I saw things I've only read about...river otters for one. Cute little critters fishing for their own dinner. Also saw a pelican where I would not have expected. It would fly up the river to the spillway and then ride the rapids back down. I thought it was funny. Many other birds too.

The four campsites in the lower Campground below the dam have a white residue that gets tracked into vehicles. The sites also tend to puddle pretty bad when it rains. The single site in the upper Loop doesn't have any of these problems. It's a great site but it's very difficult to get because it's so popular. If you are tent camping the upper Loop is a long walk to the bathroom.
