Grand Texan Hotel & Convention Center

I reviewed my stay as comfortable, but bare minimum. If you are in a pinch, if nothing else is available, it is what it is. It was after a one night stay that I discovered a problem. I had been booked & stated for one night but was charged for 2 nights. Check out time is 11am. At 1055am I carried my things to my car and placed them inside. When I attempted to gain entry to the outside door, my card would not open the entranced. I had to walk up to the front and speak with the desk clerk to reenter the inside area. This was at 1105am. My room was at the far back corner. When I arrived at my room the housekeeping staff was entering. I told them I needed to grab just a couple of things. I alerted them as I quickly left the room. Positive: A young man who worked the night shift on August 19th. Negative: Dislike everything, particularly a guy at the reception who dealt with me when I was requesting an additional chair for my room. Extremely poor customer service for a place that is deplorable. It should not be open for business in its current state.

**Not a Good Experience**||My recent stay at Grand Texan was disappointing. The lady at the front desk had zero customer service skills and was completely rude. To make matters worse, she started having her own issues tapping her fingers on the countertop as to say hurry up while I was trying to look up my confirmation code. Additionally, she was watching some kind of creepy satanic video right there in the lobby instead of working. The lobby also smelled like dirty feet and ramen noodles, which was quite unpleasant. This unprofessional behavior made my check-in process frustrating and unpleasant. The man at the front desk was rude he has no respect at all. He gave me rude looks and remarks when I complained. It was the first time that I stayed here. I expected better because of the name lol. Well anyways the room has stained carpet it basically looked like they didn’t bother to actually clean it up for me. The plugs to the lamp don’t work for the cellphones the tv didn’t work and the phone didn’t work either. So I had to complain. And I had coffee bags but no coffeemaker make that make sense. Next time I will make sure to read the comments before booking a hotel room again. Oh and if you get breakfast you have to eat it there you can’t walk out with a plate. But I did like the breakfast the lady is very nice.

They are doing renovations to the pool. The manager told me the best price was 70 a night though the price shown in maps is $40. That price was for a double room, which was all they had available. My impression was the whole place is seedy, but I chose to go to another newer, cleaner hotel and pay less.
