Customer Reviews
We just spent 2 days at Grand Portage Lodge and Casino. No real reason just looking for some quiet adult time. And with out fail found just that. The motel was quiet and clean, with a great view of the bay. The food was just lwhat we wanted. The half rack of ribs cooked to perfectly. Breakfast was very tasty served fresh and hot. The pancakes are plate sized light and fluffy. We didnt do the buffet this time but in the past it has been great. Yes we are regular guests for the lodge and camp grounds during the summer. Always feel better when we go to visit.
We were scared to eat here based on the reviews. We had to wait probably 10 minutes to be seated after we asked to be sat. Servers came to the till but never acknowledge we were there. Food was great. We had the prime rib and it was seasoned very good. Also had the burgers which were very good. This would been 5 stars if the service was better. Went for breakfast and the service was better and the Servers seemed to actually care they were working
We got the suite, and it was very nice. spacious with a beautiful view of the lake. It’s only about 10 minutes from the border. Just so you know, the only restaurants in the area are the two located in the hotel: one is a buffet, and the other serves fast food. Both were really short-staffed when we were there, so I recommend picking something up on the way to the hotel.
I do my homework before making reservations. The reviews on this hotel were so, so. I found it to and the employees to be delightful. Rooms were spacious and clean. The beds were comfortable. The television worked well. I am not a gambler, so I did not participate. The location is right on Lake Superior with a National Monument nearby. There is also a beach area with seating and fire ring. unfortunately is was kind of cloudy that evening to get the full enjoyment. I did not eat at the restaurant, but the menu looked like there was a wide variety. All of the employees I encountered were very friendly and helpful
Arrived Friday and it took 45 minutes to check in as there was 1 person working thr front desk. Our room clean and I found it interesting the furniture was well maintained for 1970 pleather furniture. Friday dinner main coarse was good, but sides were cold. Saturday went to breakfast. Was told it would be 45 minute wait, as they had 1 employee that was doing it all. Cook, hostess, waiter and busing tables. So drove to Canada for breakfast. Beautiful drive. Saturday went hiking and enjoyed our room jacuzzi to relax the muscles. Dinner buffet was crabs and prime rib. Food was very good. Asked waitress for pepper and she'll cracker. She never came back! Sunday breakfast was good. Then checked out. People do not seem happy working there. Maybe that's why there us a shortage of help.
