Grafton Inn

Although so much has changed about The Old Tavern at Grafton over the years (including its name) it is still a special place!|The Phelps Barn is busy, but there is a bar in the Main House that should be open and used too.|Generous portions. Very friendly and attentive wait staff. Will keep coming back.

We spent Valentin’s weekend celebrating our niece’s wedding at The Grafton Inn and had a lovely time. The Inn is very cozy with two fireplaces, great buffet breakfast and the Phelps barn where the reception took place was very beautiful. The food was outstanding. The recreation center is right down the road where we enjoyed fat bike riding, skating and cross country skiing and tubing. The garden where the ceremony took place was magical in the snow. The rooms are quintessential 19th century Vermont charm.

This inn is the centerpiece of Grafton Village which has largely been restored to its appearance from the 1800’s. The inn itself dates to 1801 and features hardwood floors throughout. We stayed on the third floor and enjoyed using the stairs but there is an elevator for the less adventurous. The portions at breakfast were very generous. We would definitely stay there again.

My wife and I had a great stay at the Inn. We stayed in the tavern presidential suite. The room and Inn itself was extremely clean and exactly what we expected from the pictures. It was extremely neat with the history of the Inn and the famous guests who had stayed there as I am very into history as well. The service from the staff at the Inn and Phelps Barn was great and everyone was very friendly. The food was good at Phelps Barn, however, we mainly enjoyed the service and atmosphere there. We felt very comfortable and safe, and it was very peaceful and relaxing. Grafton is also situated in a great location so that a mild drive can take you to many fun towns (Woodstock, Manchester, and Weston…etc) so it is great for exploring. We would definitely go back!

Working with the team at The Grafton Inn was an absolute pleasure from start to finish. Roma, Angela, and Olivia were all incredible partners throughout the planning process. Their communication was outstanding, thoughtful, timely, and clear, which made planning feel collaborative and efficient at every stage. Because so much of my work centers on coordinating moving pieces and anticipating needs, communication is always one of my top priorities when evaluating venues and vendor teams. The Grafton Inn team did not disappoint. On the day of the event, they were beyond helpful. Everything ran smoothly and calmly, and the entire venue truly operates like a well oiled machine.
