General Kearny Inn Motel & Event Center

I found myself in Kearney after a couple nights on the AZT and making my way to Oracle. The front desk was super friendly and let me check in early to dump my backpack. I did my laundry and had a couple cold beers while I waiting. Everyone was super friendly and the courtyard in the centre is a nice grassy oasis’! Yeah the tvs are outdated … just read a book! It’s a cheap motel so don’t expect frills. The people here work really hard and are the nicest folk! Be grateful!

Caveat: We had a couple of drinks at the bar at the GKI. We had a great time. We met a couple of locals (hi Evan & Norine (sp?)!) and had a lot of laughs. The prices were reasonable, and the bartender was friendly and prompt. It was a great end to a fun time in Kearny. We'll absolutely be back.

I loved my stay, the staff was very nice, the Inn was clean and comfortable, with a solid mattress, I do not like soft mattresses. It was close to everything, including a great pizza place and family restaurant. There is a famous hiking trail nearby, and the pizza place will bring you a pizza on the trail , just tell them where you are, the trail is marked. I will definite come back to try that next. I did not get the w-fi to work, and not many channels on the direct dv, but I was there to enjoy the town, not use my computer or watch tv.

I was in town for a class reunion. I made my reservation a month ahead of time, but when I arrived my reservation disappeared. So my first floor reservation turned into a second floor climb. The room was very old and dated. The beds were hard as a rock and definitely showed their age. Our tv didn’t work to find out later that the control batteries had expired. Additionally the bathtub was stained from the hard water. This facility needs a dramatic upgrade as it isn’t a good place to stay. Didn’t sleep well at all.

Stayed at the GKI while in town for a class reunion. Checked weeks ahead of time to ensure my dog was allowed. The website said pet/dog friendly. Made the reservation. When I arrived found a note that said no pets. We had traveled from Tennessee with a Chihuahua. I questioned it since I had even had a screenshot of the amenities that said pets allowed. The clerk was nice, and made a call to someone, who said no to the pet, regardless. Not being able to reasonably leave my dog in the car for the whole weekend, I found someone who was willing to let the dog sleep at their house. (I grew up in Kearny, and even worked at the GKI my senior year) The room was okay, but minimal amenities, i.e. no microwave or hot water/coffee pot. The website said direct TV. On the "old" TV that was there, I got
