Gateway Park Hotel and Suites - Sioux Falls / Tea

This hotel is privately owned and not any sort of chain, with a policy of collecting payment at check-in instead of check-out unlike any other hotel service. While this is not inherently a problem at all, I wasn’t told this when I booked my room on a Sunday. When I arrived on Monday after booking over the phone on Sunday I asked if I could pay on Friday at check-out and was told that would be no problem. Well, early morning Thursday they cut off access to my room and when I went to the front desk, I was told payment was needed upfront, that a note wasn’t left on the account and that “that’s not how we do things here”, completely contrary to what I was told at check-in. The gentleman at the desk gave me a dirty look and made me feel very uncomfortable, as if I were there to rob him persona

We had a restful, quiet night. Room was spacious and clean. All was good until morning. My husband went down to get coffee and see what they have for breakfast. Turns out, he was a few minutes early. The person working this morning was rude and had unacceptable attitude considering he's working in a hospitality business. Could have been handled differently. There are many hotels in the world and because of this bad attitude we will not consider coming back to this one

This hotel was CLEAN, no hint of a musty smell like other hotels in the surrounding area. Room was nice, pool area was fantastic and staff kept the pool towels fresh.

Positive: The staff young lady at front desk the night I checked in was extremely helpful and accommodative to each request. Negative: The breakfast was OK where they didn't offer fruits and only had scramble eggs with sauces.

Best hotel ever. Nice folks, good value, excellent on site restaurant, clean rooms, comfy beds, perfect pool and jacuzzi. Complimentary hot tea and coffee 24/7. Right off highway. If you're looking to stay near sioux falls and you don't stay here I feel sorry for you. Excellent front desk, dog friendly, clean and contemporary. I can't think of even a minor complaint. Wonderful!
