The campsite is clean, has running water , flushing toilets, trash and recycle. If you use toilet paper, you better bring some. No cell service, a mile down the road at the cultural center guest wifi. We happened to be here when they had a star party at the cultural center where they had 20 large telescopes set up for viewing. THIS was incredible. The policy is quiet time and LIGHTS OUT at 10pm. This is for all of the amateur astronomers and astro-photographers that stay here. The only people that didn't go lights out or red light was some glamping company that brought people in and set up teepees for a couple days. I thought I's seen the milky way before but at Gallo it goes from horizon to horizon! The campsite it's self has little privacy between sites. Direct line of sight to our neig

My guess is this would have been an amazing place to camp. After over 6 hours of driving, including something like 40 minutes on unpaved roads in our little Ford Focus, we arrived at beautiful Gallo Campground. As luck would have it, though, the site we had booked was next to the group campsite, where there were about 20 fifth graders running around, being watched by maybe 6 or 8 adult chaperones. I looked at my husband and said, “This is a nightmare.” The children were as loud as dogs. We had come to camp at Chaco specifically for a sense of serenity, calm, and quiet. We decided to give up, spent a little time checking out the park, then left and stayed elsewhere for the night. I was really looking fo

Excellent campground at a distant location, but well worth the long drive. Clean and well kept. The park rangers are helpful, polite and available. Campers are respectful of its designation as a Dark Skies Park…mostly. Some could turn out their lights earlier, but if you want to do astrophotography, Chaco is the place, while still possible in the campground.

Simple but close to Chaco Vistor Center. No water at this time. Leave tomorrow for Bisti Wilderness and Canyonlands Nationsl Park

Location is incredibly unique and unforgettable, if you pick a campsite close to the cliff then you will be sleeping right next to 1,000 year old ruins. At sunrise, the sunlight illuminates ancient petroglyphs (rock carvings) on the cliff, and at sunset, the light shines through a natural rock archway. The night sky was also beautiful. The bathrooms were clean when we visited, and have flush toilets, and sinks. You can get service and free wifi at the visitor's center which is very close.
