The Frontier Motel is not open for booking since 2012, it is one of several historic landmarks on Historic Route 66 previously owned by the Barkers. Truxton and Peach Springs offer two gas stations, one market, one hotel, one restaurant, a cultural center, rafting and canyon tours, and many “Abandoned Route 66” landmarks and photo opps.
This motel hasn't been in operation for years. The reviews suggesting otherwise are false. It's completely abandoned. Truxton has one gas station, but the pumps were covered just last week when I was there for some business. When you stand in the middle of Truxton, you are looking at a whole lot of nothing in every direction, for as far as the eye can see. It's the desert. It was 105 degrees.
Part of old Route 66 history isn't a chain motel but a bit of history from the time. People who run it are really nice.
I stay here a lot when in the region for the old-school desert highway vibe. Glad I get to experience it before gentrification consumes it..
The frontier motel and cafe is just a historical site on route 66 and is not in operation
