Great time rock hunting but the rattle snakes were plentiful. Been here many times and never seen any. This trip we saw them on 3 separate occasions.
I spent the day rockhounding. This was my backup camping plans if I ran late in the afternoon. But, at 2pm, I wasn't ready to settle-down yet for the night. This little campground is really nice; shaded tables, a vaultroom, cell service, walking distance to the agate beds. It's free but they do have a donation box. Forgot to look for a water spigot but bring your own just in case.
Didn't camp, headed straight for the agate beds had a great few hours of rock hounding. The amount of quartz available is spectacular.
Very quiet. Well maintained. RV and tent camping. FREE!
Love this place. Dry camping, no fires allowed, no cell services just peace and tranquility! Tent area has tables, pit toilet, grills and when allowed fire pits. Cows on occasion may come through the grounds. Roads in are like a washboard but go slow, you'll be fine.
