Most KOA's are right off the highway. This one is pushed back just far enough to be nice and quiet. We've workamped for KOA and stayed at many in our travels. This one is ranked pretty high. They even have stables! Sites are pretty level. For a KOA the sites in the woodline are spaced out and roomy. Cost per night was great too! We will be staying again for sure!
This is a KOA in serious decline and apparently has been for a while. We stayed 9 years ago and it was OK but now serious problems. The most dangerous is the power supplied. Woefully inadequate and the voltage can't keep up with demand. Frequent and regular low voltage which my Progressive EMS would detect and disconnect the power before damages occurred to the appliances. I saw 102-104 volts several times. For the uninformed, voltages that low will permanently damage air conditioners, refrigerators and other appliances. Very low water pressures requiring using the pump and onboard water to flush the toilet or shower. Sites are grass and mostly mud. Sewer connections are 6+- " above ground surface on a down sloping site. Gravity can not be defeated by flowing "stuff" uphill. Interior and a
Gotta say, I was blown away with this camp. We stayed In a cabin, which really helped manage two kids. The cabin was clean, cozy and comfortable. The whole camp itself was clean, well managed and friendly. The bathrooms were clean and well maintained. The pool was clean and had a really cool slide. Above all else, we were there for their off season Halloween night… what an absolute treat. The people (I should say family) who ran this really put their hearts and souls into the very fun performance; it was hilarious, wholesome and had a nice light scare to it. I really applauded them for going the extra mile to entertain the families with something fun. Really left a great impression on me, and I can’t wait to go back. I’ll never forget “Stinky Pete”, who “smells worse than a north-bound
This is a really nice KOA. My only complaint is that we are next to a sand quarry or something and there is incessant industrial beeping that starts at 7am sharp and apparently continues all day. The campground itself is nice with nice lodging options and clean bath houses. I’m looking forward to an upcoming trip here on a weekend and hopefully won’t have to listen to loud high pitched beeping all day. I would not come back during the week for this reason. If it’s something that happens on weekends as well, I likely won’t be back. It’s just not relaxing to hear construction noise all day. Staff are nice. Gift shop is adorable… it’s unfortunate that it’s not peaceful during day.
The owner, Robert Lane, is a miserable human being that hates running a campground. I've been living at this campground for 9 months and just finally had a visitor for the first time and after 6 days of her being here he told me her dog isn't welcome here because it barks. It's a dog... My camper has been under construction since I bought it and while he was telling me I can't have a guest with a dog he also told me I'm not allowed to use any power tools. So now I'm forced to live in a mess with no place to put anything. There are campers on every side of me who have dogs and use power tools as well. The guy in the site directly beside me came here with an unfinished Tiny Home and works on it daily and also has a dog. I would not recommend staying at this campground, EVER!
