Ferne Clyffe State Park Campsite Loop

Lovely and well-maintained campground within close proximity of nice hiking trails. Quiet and somewhat isolated. The one privy we used was amazing clean. We came during the off-season where there was only walk-in camping (for primitive and electric sites). Hardly anyone was there on a warmish 3/13 day/night. Will visit again.

The campground host was so friendly, informative, and just all around enjoyable. Very well kept playground for families that's centrally located. Bathrooms are basic but kept up well. Just overall an amazing campground and state park. Easily my favorite state park in Illinois.

I went camping here for the first time and we had a nice time. There are some 1st come 1st serve sites and there are sites that can be reserved online ahead of time. The online bookings close out 3 days ahead of time so it said that all the sites were sold out, but when our friend called to see if there was a site available to join us, the campsite host explained this to us and there were 37 sites available at that time. All of the sites had electric and there are a few water spigots throughout the campsite that you can connect to, depending on your site. The shower house was clean and stocked with toilet paper and I had a nice warm shower. There are a couple trails that you can hike from the campsite, which we did. We were awaken early be workers building the new pit toilets and bricking them in . We made the best and hiked The Happy Hollow Loop with some connectors and had a great hike . Did the hiking down by the waterfall the. Next morning before leaving . Highly recommend when there are as few people as we saw . Last weekend of April 2023.

We have stayed here 6+ times and we love the campground. We have a 36ft camper. There is 30 amp electricity only on most sites. No sewage hook-ups. They have a fresh water hook-up, but limited to only a few spots. One side of the campground is reserve and the other side first-come. Only one dump station. The restrooms aren't the greatest. Campers staying are fairly nice and respectable, but you will see the occasional annoying crowd. Tennants do come around and check tags. Payments are to be made by the restrooms, in a drop box. Keep in mind that prices are $20 per night but may be $30 per night during holidays, like Memorial Day and Labor Day weekend. Lots to do in the area and nice scenic trails to walk.
