Fern River Resort

My husband and I pulled up to this beautiful oasis and were eager to stay. Unfortunately, we were not able to stay for our reservation, as it appeared the cleaning for our room was sub par. Upon contacting management they promptly came to inspect the room and agreed it was not cleaned appropriately to their standards. They offered to re-clean the room, but we expressed our concern and they were gracious to offer us a refund and a suggestion of elsewhere to stay. The grounds are truly beautiful and I’m sure they will be keen to better scrutinize the cleanliness of their rooms!

For the nature lovers, very cute and cozy cabins. Beautiful views. Clean cabins and friendly hardworking staff. Perfect place for weddings, family reunions, or to just escape the hustle bussel of life. Plenty of hiking trails, and scenic views. We will definitely come back here again. We had an amazing mini vacation here.

The ambience, alone, was a 5 plus. Very well maintained site. Room had everything one would need for a comfortable stay. Stayed in cabins 1&2. Great place for families. Beach area for fishing, pretty rocky, though. Close to town and quick trip to Santa Cruz.

While in Santa Cruz, I stayed at a 4 star hotel that was not as nice as this place. The cabins seemed old, but you can tell they do allot of maintenance on them and are very well kept up. This was a very peaceful and rustic place to stay. The redwoods gave the property some unique charm and character. It is nice that you can open the window at night and hear the sound of the river.

We tried getting in touch with Fern River Resort for over two weeks because we were interested in possibly booking it for our wedding. I did speak with a woman twice, who I believe may be the owner and she was very polite/kind, but she continued to direct me to reach out to the event coordinator. Unfortunately, I never heard back from the coordinator despite multiple attempts, so we ultimately booked elsewhere in the area. I am disappointed to leave a low rating without even seeing the property, but communication is such an important part of this type of business. I hope this is something they can improve in the future, as I was really interested in the possibility of having water access during our wedding weekend.
