Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Seneca Clemson Univ Area

Upon our check-in, we greeted the front desk associate with a friendly “Hello, Alexis!” We were greeted with a half-hearted and monotone, “What can I do for you?” reply. (It was hard to tell if it was a question or a statement.) While processing our check-in, I asked if I could please have two additional pillows. Reply: “We don’t have any. A sports team was here recently and they stole them all.” Oh my! I missed the news of this heist. (That must have been quite a sight – everyone boarding busses with one or two pillows tucked under their arms … who knew they were such a desired commodity? But I digress…) She said they were waiting for more to come in. I asked if the hotel was full tonight. Reply: “half-full.” Hmmmm…. Considering it was already 9:00 PM, could she possibly have

We usually stay at the Hampton Inn when we are in the area, but we decided to try this newer Fairfield on our most recent visit this weekend. We discussed later (my husband and I) whether we preferred the Fairfield or the Hampton, and, if the prices were equal, we'd say it is probably 50-50. We had a king room on the lake side of the hotel, so we did have a pretty view of a little sliver of Lake Keowee, so that was nice. The lake view feature makes the hotel unique in Seneca (at least as far as I know). Our room was clean and comfortable, the breakfast was good, and the service was friendly. There were only a few small "hiccups" which made me give the review 4/5 instead of 5/5. First of all, the room itself was surprisingly small. I received excellent service from a friendly staff. Our bathroom had a significant amount of long hair stuck to the walls, but otherwise, the room appeared to be clean. The lighting on both beds was not working, which was somewhat frustrating. The gym was clean and well-equipped; however, the towels needed restocking. Overall, the views were outstanding, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. The breakfast bar offered a varied selection of items and was well-stocked.

Love this hotel, stayed here as a halfway between Nashville and Myrtle Beach. I also stayed on the return trip. I usually camp so my car is filled with stuff I don’t want stolen. Which is risky at any hotel these days. But I didn’t have that fear here. Room was super clean imo although I’m not very picky. Unlike some reviewers, I don’t go looking for the slightest imperfections. Just give me a clean bed and shower and I’m set.
