Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Plainville

Had a great experience at this hotel. They were super accommodating for our hockey team. Everyone at the front desk (Especially Madeline!) was helpful, polite and welcoming. Hotel was clean and conveniently located. Definitely would recommend.

While this inn is somewhat outdated, it has clean and comfortable rooms and a wonderful breakfast spread. My concern, though, is that the new owners do not seem to be investing into this inn. The HVAC system for the lobby and breakfast area has been broken since July of 2025. As a result, the lobby is hot and humid in the summer and fridge in the winters. Be prepared to eat breakfast in your winter coats. The most recent issue is the the streaming services are no longer working. What I was told is that "Corporate" did not renew the services and that the equipment needs to be upgraded. You can still watch TV channels but Netflix, Prime, YouTube and other streaming services are no longer available.

This place is a dump. It is old, it does not smell good, it needs to be renovated from the ground up. Any form of Marriott Status means absolutely nothing here. Calling ahead a month in advance to ask for a specific room or checking in on the app to alert to your arrival have no influence. If you happen to arrive late you get whatever is left. Not that any of the rooms are particularly good or nice. I have stayed here several times and each time was misery.

I’m genuinely shocked that this is a Marriott property. While it carries the name, the quality is more in line with a budget motel. When I first entered my room, I was immediately hit with a strong odor of urine, it was so bad I didn’t even set my bags down before requesting a new room. The second room was smaller and, unfortunately, had no hot water. I’ve now been waiting over three hours just to take a warm shower. On top of that, the front desk staff was miserable, clearly doesn’t want to assist guests, making the whole situation even more frustrating. The room itself feels far from clean, and had a musty smell. The carpet is worn, the drapes look dirty, and even the mini-fridge is on a timer, which feels oddly cheap for a Marriott. I’m extremely disappointed with this experience. As

Positive: Comfort of rooms, breakfast, checkout time. Negative: They were horrible at assuring safety of guests in the lot after snow/ice storm, not even salting the walkway nor the lot behind the cars, to the handicap parking. It was a nightmare! I slipped and nearly fell 3x!
