FairBridge Inn Express Monroe City

My husband and I are traveling and stopped here to sleep overnight. We got in around midnight and stayed in a pet friendly room. Within 5 minutes my husband killed a spider in the bed. He went to the front desk and rang the bell (which by the way states to only ring for emergencies) the front desk attendant opened their door to their hangout room or whatever is back there, peeks out and then closes the door. We were straight up ignored! We needed assistance with the bug issue and the fact that their vending machines don’t work and say to go to the front desk to buy drinks. Nothing around this hotel is open after 9 pm and we had no water or anything to drink and were trying to purchase from the front desk. Wouldn’t stay here again, only staying bc we are too tired to drive anywhere else. A

Pros- The room seemed clean and the bed was comfortable. |Cons- The entire hotel is in need of repairs/updates. The carpet on the staircase to go to the 2nd floor was ripped in several places. The glass on the window in our room was broken. The external door at one end of the hotel was inoperable when we arrived and hanging from 1 hinge when we left. The 2nd floor was hot and smelled terrible (cabbage maybe???). 2 of the 3 parking lot lights were knocked over or missing and not working. I think the hotel is under newer ownership because 3 years ago it was much nicer.

Positive: The convenience to nearby gas stations and businesses. The cleanliness of the hotel was excellent. Negative: The soda pop machine was out of order and not all options were available from front desk

Rude Staff, Illegal Charges, and Filthy Grounds – Never Again I had one of the worst hotel experiences of my life at the Fairbridge Inn in Monroe City, Missouri. The front desk clerk was downright rude — not just unhelpful, but hostile. Instead of providing even basic customer service, they decided to illegally charge me $60 for my certified service dog. For the record, under the Americans with Disabilities Act, service animals are not subject to pet fees. Either this place is willfully ignoring the law, or they’re shamelessly taking advantage of guests. Either way, it's completely unacceptable. Too many other variables factor into our score. I found it acceptable, my wife did not. For example, the entry and stairs were dirty, smelly, and disgusting in our opinion. The room was was actually fine. One needs to realize, it’s not an IHG, Hilton, or Marriott property, but it was fine for sleep. Do not get me wrong, this property is walking a fine line between respectable and cheap rundown. But we had an acceptable experience. Latest reviews were terrible, but we found it to be what we sought…..comfortable sleep. On a final note, the breakfast is laughable. Why even try?
