Evangeline Downs Hotel, an Ascend Collection Hotel

My review is based on being here one night. Upon entering the room, it smelled off but we just set our stuff down and went to the casino. After about 2 hours I came back to get a sweater and use the bathroom. The toilet had poop stains that didn’t come from us. I called and was told that there was no housekeeping in the evening. Might I add, the mattress looked messed up. We tried to fix it but could not. We changed rooms and the new room smelled better. The issue was that I asked if there were feathers in the room and was told no. Well that was not correct. But the shocker was when I pulled the sheet it looked like someone blue their nose in the sheet. I touched it and it was hard yellow and crusty. My husband and I stayed in the Evangeline Downs Hotel from May 23-25, We attended a cousin's funeral in Opelousas on May 24.. We often frequent the hotel. As always the linen was very clean and the room was maintained immaculately. Ronetta Sam (General Manager), briefly greeted my husband and I, as she had a couple of meetings to atttend. Ronetta always has taken at least 1 minute or 2 to greet us in a warm and professional way, which is always nice as we know she is quite busy, The front attendant Anja has ALWAYS exemplified the same characteristics as Ronetta by Always willing to assist with any concern we may have. In my opinion Ronetta has groomed her staff in a SUPERB and EXTRAORDINARY way, as this is ALWAYS a welcoming Experience while staying at Evangeline Downs. Our stay d

We live 45 minutes away and wanted to stay and play without driving. It was 10 pm when we decided to get something to eat and turn in for the night. The casino didn’t have any venues open. We hadn’t eaten since breakfast. Had to go to restaurant down the road. The purpose of staying at the casino was not to have to drive anywhere after drinking a few beers. Staff was awesome it’s not their fault.

This was the worst experience I’ve ever had in all my 30+ years of travel. I’m an Air Force veteran who has enjoyed the honor of traveling all over this Nation and abroad. I was in Opelousas, LA for my grandfather’s funeral. After traveling for 10 hours from Illinois to Louisiana, the day after Thanksgiving, I arrived at Evagaline Downs to be told the room I reserved a week in advance was no longer available and overbooked. I was given a smoking room even after I explained that I reserved a nonsmoking room due to severe sinusitis. Due to the holidays other comparable local hotels were booked so I had no other choice not to accept the smoking room for my family. this is the werst Opelousas Howtel I've ever sean. ferst off, they rickfused to accommodate a room for me all because I'm a Microsoft Serface Descktop operater. Seckind , they don't remodel the hotel to a vuturistic look, which it's Traschy and Oald of them to do , refusing to remodel. therd, the Lockations is in the middel of nowhere, which it makes it challenjing to reach WalMarck SuperCenter at night time. Fourth, the hotel don't have stairs at all, which it Vyolates local laws. fifth and finally, the very worst Parck, IS that he uses the Looma Dreem Machine Evill Plastick Chicken With The Red Meek on it, AND USED IT FOR COMMENCKTARIES. the Cuality Inn Howtel in Alexandria Louisiana is much better than the Traschy Old Evengeline Dawns Howtel.
