Elsberry Motel and Lodge

Been trying for 3 days to call to rent a room nobody has come to the phone I've called several times during the day even while I'm at my place of employment still nothing highly unprofessional how do you guys get business if you guys never answer phones

Before retiring, I wore two hats—by day, I managed a floor-covering business in Columbia, MO, helping people turn houses into homes. By night (or rather, weekends), I pursued my passion as an entertainment columnist. My column, RW McMurray's Celebrity Contact, graced several mid-Missouri daily newspapers every Saturday and appeared nationally in Autograph Collector magazine as a monthly feature. Those dual roles often had me crisscrossing the country, and over the years, I’ve experienced my fair share of motels and hotels. I did not stay here but stopped to see someone. I was disgusted by the awful and overwhelming smell of cigarette smoke coming from the neighboring rooms. I think people actually live at this place. People had their doors open. As I walked to the room, I could see the deplorable conditions people keep in their rooms. I've never been so disgusted by an actual "motel". Maybe I'm just inexperienced, but I don't think most places of business would allow this. I never actually saw any staff, so I can't comment on that.

This is an older motel, so I wasn't really expecting much when I checked in. However, the room was updated, and was immaculately clean. The bed was comfortable, and there was a mini-fridge and microwave, as well as coffee in the room. There is no telephone in the room, and my two cell phones (one Verizon and one AT&T) had no signals. However, that won't deter me from staying there again. I was pleasantly surprised!

As we were driving through the area for the first time, the check engine light was on and the driver wanted to stop so I could check it out and make sure the trip home would be safe. After making sure we were able to drive on, we decided to find out if we could find a restroom before we got back on the road. There was a large party going on in the building to the north of the property. I walked down and found the office and rang the bell to find the manager. The manager was happy to help us out and opened the game room next to the large event room, so we were able to continue on our way. The parking lot was full and the people were going on and out and from what we could see, the facility seemed very nice. The game room was kept up and the pool table, etc. all looked in very good condition
