Elkhorn Valley Recreation Site

Great location with easy access to shallow areas to play in river & lush green vegetation. The only thing keeping it from 5 stars is the vault toilets which were the worst I've ever experienced.

Nice and neat, campsite are for 2 medium size tents. Super clean restrooms and accessible with lights.

River was inaccessible to small children and disabled due to incline. The pit toilets were the most disgusting I've ever smelled. Nearly vomited every time we had to use them. That alone really makes us question whether we want to return. There was nice shade though and campsites at least we're clean and many were somewhat private.

Found this spot earlier this summer, just as a day pass visit. But I finally got to tent camp there too! Besides some minor inconveniences, (picking up other people's left behind garbage and some bee's) this was a great place to unplug, dip in the river and go on easy to moderate hikes (found the caves!!).
