Customer Reviews
We stumbled upon this location through VRBO, and due to its reviews, pictures, size of cabins to fit a family of 5 comfortably, and affordably, we thought we would give it a shot. We are glad that we did... We went down to this area for a family ski trip to Snowshoe (About 40 minutes away) and got so much more. This resort has an amazing fly shop, Elk River running through the property for fly fishing, a fish hatchery, and a trout pay stream where you can work on your craft or are almost guaranteed to catch dinner, all on site.||In addition, they have Ellie Mays cafe on site, and the food and service in this little space were amazing. The whole family wanted to eat every meal here. ||Everyone there (Cafe, Fly Shop, and staff working front desk for check in and gift shop) were all amazing.
Fly shop is amazing. We visited twice and stayed a total of 5 nights. The grounds and buildings are very well maintained. Every employee we had contact with was pleasant and helpful. It's as advertised on their website. The fishing is excellent here year round. We were pleased with the food and service at the restaurant. I viewed as much of the resort as I could as a guest, and it's nicer than I could have appreciated from the pictures. 100% we will return.
We come up yearly for the annual fall trout stocking. The resort is really good place to stay no matter what your plans are. It is right on one of the best trout fishing streams in wv. The owners and staff really made us feel welcome and that we were appreciated! They treated us like family! Our stay was above and beyond what we could have imagined and it was mostly because of there kindness!!
The Elk Springs Resort was beautiful and beautifully clean but considering it was dead of winter we were pretty surprised that there was hardly any heating or warm blankets. They didn’t leave us towels and hadn’t warned us to bring any. So we couldn’t even use the showers they offered. The bathrooms were locked and the key provided wasn’t labeled or indicated so we had to ask a neighbor late at night who pointed them out. They gave emergency phone numbers but there isn’t cell service. We knew there wouldn’t be cell service but another emergency aid would have been helpful. This place seems great for the summer but it was way too cold and uncomfortable for the winter.
I brought a friend with me to visit my old family homeplace, cemeteries, and playing in the mountains. We stayed 2 nights at Elk Springs in the Erica. Everything was just perfect. The grounds are well kept, the cabin was beautiful and very well-equipped with grill, fire ring, kitchen utensils, towels, soaps, etc. was tickled you've managed to bring WIFI to the cabin. Being in the area multiple times before, I knew better than to show up with no groceries and stopped in the Webster Springs IGA first. People that complain about this should map where they're going and bring appropriate supplies. Thank you for keeping this part of the river as beautiful and magical as it always was!
