Excellent free CG. Clean vault toilets. 9 sites. Almost a mile walk over to the visitor center. Hugh pack of coyotes heard each night we were there. Please pick up after your dogs.
Absolutely Free camping, site #8 was well shaded as are a few of the others. Bathrooms are clean and plenty of privacy. Also dog friendly just keep on leash. Trash cans are provided.
Beautiful campsites and no water when I visited in late October / early November. Also, the trail around the monument closed at 3. Stupid and disappointing. Also, though it was breathtaking, I wouldn’t recommend visiting during a storm.
The campground is located off the access road to the visitor center. It’s free but you must register at the entrance kiosk and post the slip of paper at the entrance to your site. There are 9 sites; 1-3 are more suitable to tent camping although there is space to park along the road; 4 is a pull thru; 5 is designated as accessible and should not be used unless all other sites are occupied (it’s across from the vault toilets); 6 and 9 are similar to 1-3 if not a little larger. 8, where we camped is the only one where you can pull a camper and tow vehicle into the site. All sites have a fire ring with grate and a tent pad. 6 has the best view. All have some shade. The campground is patrolled by park personnel. There are two water spigots (near 3 and 6) but they were shut off due to f
RV max length 27 feet So we were too big to stay. But we did loop through the campground to turn around. It was very cute and seemed to have all the basics. I was bummed we couldn’t stay but the campground at Ancient Way Cafe 2 miles down the road could accommodate us no problem.
